Now, where were we?

One of the many things we can all count on is the love of convenience and the need for speed. Who doesn't appreciate same-day service, or one-hour deliveries, or overnight deliveries that arrive between 4:00am and 8:00am? As a non-driver in a big city, I definitely do. I didn't always not drive, but let me say it's something I don't miss.

Prior to the most recent pandemic, I used to commute to work from Hayward, California to San Francisco, by bus and BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit), thoroughly enjoying the commute:  I could read, knit, crochet or sew books, all while poppin' to my favorite tunes ... and I'd often have a new crochet basket or knit and crochet washcloth by the time I got home. Such was the way of my world pre-March 17, 2020.

And the world kept changing, and evolving and before I knew it, my department was no longer required to return to the brick and mortar, and we were officially "remote" employees. Yay!!! Pretty big stuff for a law firm. Mighty big stuff.

So, that meant I didn't have to carry groceries home in my rolling cart, or spend my lunch hour running errands around the city, weekly, and the "Times" were finally catching up with me.

You see, I'd always been a go-getter, of sorts. I tried new things my family found scary, like the time I signed up for an online correspondence course, then another one, back when it was brand spanking new, and everyone looked at me sideways. But I got the certificates to prove it.  Years later, I attended college completely online, but it wasn't until 2020 that the thought of working from home had no choice but to catch on and suddenly the world woke up:  no office rent, less sick leave, and a healthy environment for all.  Sweet!!!
